The project has identified and cataloged over 450,000 different software images/sets, consisting of over 3.60TB of software, firmware and resources. TOSEC catalogs over 200 unique computing platforms and continues to grow. The main goal of the project is to catalog and audit various kinds of software and firmware images for these systems. The Old School Emulation Center (TOSEC) is a retrocomputing initiative dedicated to the cataloging and preservation of software, firmware and resources for microcomputers, minicomputers and video game consoles. The collection includes a broad range of software related materials including shareware, freeware, video news releases about software titles, speed runs of actual software game play, previews and promos for software games, high-score and skill replays of various game genres, and the art of filmmaking with real-time computer game engines. Sure would like to have GIMP scan photos in directly from the 8800F.DESCRIPTION The Internet Archive Software Collection is the largest vintage and historical software library in the world, providing instant access to millions of programs, CD-ROM images, documentation and multimedia. The error message I posted above has "Scangear" on the top/first line of the error message. I don't understand if Scangear is part of the driver or an intermediary program, but both of these working programs open Scangear and that is the user interface to the scanner. Now both the Arcsoft Photostudio and the NAPS2 apps bring up Canon Scangear when you select the 8800F as the source. I verified that the Windows 8.1 64 bit driver version is 13.0.5 and what is installed and verified via properties for the scanner is 13.0.5.56. I also just installed NAPS2 and thought that may have changed the driver. That's what Arcsoft Photostudio is using and it works just fine. Following online forum advice for this same "no Windows 10 driver" issue I downloaded the Canon Windows 8.1 64 bit version of the scanner driver and installed in compatibility mode on my Windows 10 laptop. Canon did not make a Windows 10 version of the 8800F Twain driver.

The error message above calls out a driver issue. I have had the scanner installed and working fine with other photo editing software (Arcsoft Photostudio), but GIMP cannot communicate with the scanner. I never tried this with an older version of GIMP. and brand new to GIMPCHAT, for that matter. Reinstall the scanner driver.įairly new to both GIMP and the Canoscan 8800F scanner.
